Quick work by the Downer Bailey Bridge crew from Blenheim has seen access across the wash-out in Danseys Pass restored on schedule.
The previous bridge was washed away in the recent rain event and the bailey bridge will provide temporary access while a new bridge, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, is constructed on site and underneath the bailey bridge.
A spokesperson for the Waitaki District Council roading network engineer Graeme Butler said the design for the new bridge has been completed and tenders for the work will open shortly.
