A decision on the creation of two new companies as part of a proposal by Waitaki District Health Services to develop a retirement village on Oamaru’s ‘Hospital Hill’ will be made at next week’s council meeting.
As part of the recent consultation process on this decision, council received more than 80 submissions, the majority of which expressed their overwhelming support for the proposal.
Council’s chief executive, Michael Ross said next week’s council meeting represented an important step in the proposal.
“The decision whether to establish the new council controlled organisations (CCOs) represents an important stage in the development of this proposal,” he said.
“This remains a choice for council.
“However, we were delighted with the feedback and level of interest from the community as part of the recent consultation.”
