After five-and-a-half years as the Waitaki District Council emergency services manager, Chris Raine says it’s time to move on.
Mr Raine leaves his post on September 19, having secured a position as regional manager and group controller with the West Coast Civil Defence Emergency Group.
“It is a bigger job than I have now and will provide me with a good challenge,” he said.
Mr Raine said he had thoroughly enjoyed his time in Oamaru.
“I have plenty of good friends from my time here and it has been awesome to have worked with the council here,” he said.
“They are a great bunch of people and a very tight-knit group who all work together closely.”
Two people are set to take over Mr Raine’s role.
Waitaki District Council customer services manager Richard Mabon said Mr Raine had been a valuable servant to the Waitaki District Council.
“Chris has been instrumental in building up a very effective emergency management team here in Waitaki, including an expanded network of community volunteers, excellent relationships with other emergency service agencies.”
