Meridian is challenging the amount it will pay in district rates – leaving councillor June Slee “horrified”.
In the Draft Revenue and Financing Policy (DRFP) and Draft 2015-25 Long Term Plan, council proposes charging Meridian Energy about $937,000 for its six hydro-electric stations – Ohau A, Ohau B, Ohau C, Lake Aviemore, Lake Benmore and Waitaki River.
The increase from just under $815,000, which the company paid in the last financial year, was “not reasonable or fair”, Meridian said.
