A new logo which is more intricate and stylistic than the existing one was launched by the Waitaki District Council on Tuesday as part of their rebranding process.
The new logo represents the four main categories important to council – business (red), living (green), corporate (dark blue) and service (light blue).
Customer services group manager, Mr Richard Mabon, said council didn’t want to start with a completely different logo so have used the whole left side of the existing one, which he said can be interpreted as either a column or a wave.
The idea of refreshing the brand has been discussed since early 2013 when council started working on an External Communication Strategy to improve all levels of communication with stakeholders.
“The old brand is 10-12 years old and not consistently used in the organisation so it was timely to refresh it,” Mr Mabon said.
The old logo will be used for some time yet as existing stocks of stationery and supplies are used up.
Mr Mabon said their was no definite plan for rebranding vehicles but he thought that as they were replaced the logo would be updated.
The rebranding has so far cost about $5000.
