Only one nomination has been put forward so far for the Waitaki District Council’s Corriedale ward by-election.
Rutherford Rd resident Guy Percival has been nominated by former councillor Kevin Malcolm and seconded by Graeme Isbister.
The by-election is being held as a result of Cr Sharyn Price resigning for health reasons.
Nominations close at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 22.
Corriedale ward councillor Bill Kingan said recently he was enjoying being a member of council.
“I work on the theory that we’re all part of a team,” he said.
“And we have a great team.”
About half of the exisiting councillors were newly elected in October last year, including Mr Kingan, and he said he was made to feel very welcome.
Any incoming councillor elected to the Corriedale ward would have to be mindful that the position is time-consuming, involving about 20 hours of work per week.
