The short, sharp winter weather blast which brought cold, sleety hail showers to parts of North Otago yesterday (Wednesday) should give way to warmer temperatures and an easing of the cold winds today (Thursday).
Waitaki District Council emergency services manager Chris Raine said the windchill factor for stock and people working in exposed areas should be monitored closely and stock should be moved to sheltered places if they became stressed.
“Young calves and lambs will be particularly vulnerable,” he said.
By tomorrow (Friday), Oamaru weather should be back to a fine day, although the rain returns tomorrow (Friday) before leading into what promises to be a fine week ahead.
