North Otago has escaped the latest round of rough weather which battered parts of Canterbury early at the weekend, and left several thousand consumers without electricity, trees down across power lines and fires whipped along by gale-force winds.
Blustery conditions eased in Otago and Canterbury yesterday, the threat of severe gales with gusts greater than 110 km/h passed, and weather warnings for Otago and Canterbury were lifted by MetService.
