Oamaruvians are being encouraged to appease their appetites and head to the Waitaki Community Gardens each week for their Pizza Fridays.
Pizza Fridays is being held each week until March 20 from 4-7pm with participants able to pick their own toppings from the gardens.
Waitaki Community Gardens co-ordinator Sophia Leon de la Barra said they held the first one last week and had about 50 people there.
“Everybody just wandered around the garden and picked toppings they liked.”
Bases, sauce and cheese were provided and some people brought some extra toppings.
The food was cooked in their pizza oven, shaped like a dragon, which was created during workshops last winter.
Ms Leon de la Barra said she hoped Oamaru word-of-mouth would do its magic in order for this Friday to be another successful evening.
Volunteer gardener Allan Adamson (aka Grandpa G) said Friday was absolutely brilliant and it was nice to see things being harvested from the gardens.
Pizza Fridays will be held every Friday until March 20 at the Waitaki Community Gardens from 4-7pm.
Bring your own other toppings and refreshments.
A koha from each family would be appreciated.
